This is my first jealousy post. It was inspired by one of my favorite blogs, The Jealous Curator, and also by sharing with the world what artists inspire me. And there is a LOT of them, so I’m very excited to write a little bit about their art.
Have you guys heard of Brooke Shaden? If you’re into fine art portraits, the answer will probably be yes.
I can’t remember how I bumped into her work, but from the first time I saw one of her fantastic (literally) self-portraits, I was forever hooked. I started watching her videos on YouTube, following her on social media, and even took her CreativeLive course (all healthy stalking, I promise).
Her goal is to capture fantastic realities, and she does that wonderfully. Her eerie self-portraits make us think about life and our human condition, and also question the boundaries of reality and fantasy – and you can’t really tell where that limit is, which makes her photos even more amazing.
